Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park
Introduction
Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park in the heart of the Lesser Caucasus in Georgia is one of the largest in Europe. A stunning landscape with some of the best preserved mountainous forests in the region – it also is the ideal place to experience the rich culture and legendary hospitality that Georgia has to offer.
Many rare and wonderful species of flora can be found as you trek through the magnificent forests to beautiful alpine meadows on your way to the mountain peaks. As you gain altitude in the north of the park you will cross through a green broadleaved heaven with an evergreen under-story that lends an almost tropical feel to your journey. When you reach the peaks you will feel like you are floating in a sea of clouds. The park is home to many species of animals including wolf and bear. Stay in a remote village as winter comes and you may hear the howl of the wolf as they come closer.
